What our Members are Saying...

"When we shut Jesus in a box and limit where He meets us, we limit His power. Don't limit where He speaks to you, where He gives you your voice, where He uses you. He invites me, to move, to breathe, to listen to Him on my yoga mat. He invites you too."

Divine Rhythms: 4 Steps to Reboot Your Life with God's Love

Divine Rhythms: Rebooting Life with God's Love

Stress

What if stepping into healthful, spirit-filling daily habits and rhythms could be smooth and breezy with less striving, struggling, and rigid “quiet time” rules?

It can!

When you put falling in love with God at the top of your list, it changes you at a cellular level, and becomes the fuel for smooth transitions, change, and transformation.

You literally rewire thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors in ways you didn’t think were possible.

Distracting habits and limiting beliefs naturally fall away and are replaced with life-giving rhythms to re-awaken your soul to God’s best for you.

This prayer from Fr. Pedro Arrupe. S.J. sets the framework for this idea:

"Nothing is more practical than finding God,
that is falling in love in a quite absolute, final way.
What you are in love with,
what seizes your imagination,
will affect everything.
It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning,
what you do with your evenings,
how you spend your weekends,
what you read,
whom you know,
what breaks your heart,
and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in Love,
stay in love,
and it will decide everything."

The world is full of hurry, noise, and plenty of distractions. Disordered attachments to persons, control, possessions, or ideas get in the way of loving God.

But He tells us to not fall into these traps and instead, fall in love with Him so much so that He changes us into a new person. This transformation all begins with the way we think.

This may come as a surprise but, our bodies are the doorway into our minds. It’s called bottom-up processing in the psychology world. Basically, becoming better acquainted with the details of our bodies, our breath, our inner workings, sets us up to be better able to calm our minds, be present, and connect with our Savior.

Science tells us that moving our bodies in mindful ways, such as yoga, enhances our neuroplasticity efforts by increasing cerebellum blood flow and releasing brain-supportive chemicals (e.g., dopamine and GABA).

Our mindful movement practices also cultivate a deeper inner knowing, building an owner’s manual of sorts to your body. This embodiment allows you to build interoceptive awareness, which is essentially the capacity to identify and interpret bodily cues. The more interoceptive awareness, the more resilient you are in challenging situations in life.

Bottom line, moving your body, moves your mind.

The more attuned you are to your body, the better able you are to center and settle your mind, which brings us back to our core pursuit as Believers, “falling in Love in a quite absolute, final way” with our Creator.

The process of renewing your thinking is a 4-step process:

Step 1: Make subconscious thoughts and beliefs conscious.

Step 2: Decide where you want your mind to dwell.

Step 3: Discern how to live it out.

Step 4: Practice, soak it in, and rewire.

How to get started:
We've created a specific 15 day "Rhythm Reboot" challenge over at With-God Wellness that weaves in movement, meditation, and contemplative practices specifically designed to support this 4-step process.
